While out on a walk with Seth I felt almost apologetic for taking up the sidewalk—even self-conscious of passerby cars seeing this young mom on a walk and not going to work. A part of me wants to hide from everyone but the birds—even if it means staying inside all day. I consider that.
But then a part of me that wants to grow says, “This is your sidewalk too. This is your day and time and life and town, You can be out there enjoying it all as much as anyone. Maybe even more.”
So I need to remind myself often that keeping the porch light off keeps me from seeing out as much as it keeps others from seeing in. So throw open the curtains, walk out the door, breathe the outside air and feel what it is to be alive. And love it.
