Free Family History Courses

I've been interested in researching my ancestors for awhile. My most paternal line goes back to Abraham Mower, 1830s, upstate New York. Since we live in upstate New York I figured doing research from here should be pretty simple.

I visited our central public library, but they don't have local records back that far. I've made phone calls and sent emails to other libraries requesting information. But so far, nothing. I'm easily stumped and discouraged.

But happily, I recently found this site. Since I also have Italian ancestors I watched the "Basic Italian Research" course posted at the top of the page. It was 5-stars excellent: interesting, valuable and straight-forward. I now know how to get the information I need about the Patricelli and Malaspina families. And I intend to do it!

Now I just need to find a course that will instruct me how to find Abraham. I bet I will.
